Payne Stone was founded in 2021 by Michael Payne. He set out to create a culture in a business that stood on core principles that would transcend well beyond just countertops. His vision was to create a work environment that employees love to be in and one that our customers can feel as well. We believe that a business is built from the ground up by the people. The people you build with will be the pillars that hold the company up for years to come.

Meet the Owners

Michael Payne

Michael got his start in the countertop business in 2015 at Granite Source after 10 years as a service advisor in the automotive industry. This was where he really planted his roots in the industry by teaming up with his eventual business partner Tripp and more than doubling the business in the Richmond market for them. In his time at Granite Source he was a major source of procuring the top home builders as customers for Granite Source and helped them become one of the top fabrication shops in the Richmond area. Here Michael led the sales team and really began to cultivate his desire to lead an organization as more than just a manager. Michael is married with 3 kids, 1 girl and 2 boys, and if you can't find him at work he is probably on a sports field with his kids or in the woods hunting.

William "Tripp" Flannagan

William started in the countertop world with Surface Technology Corporation in 2002 where he created lifelong industry friends and got his feet wet in the countertop world. In 2005 he went to Granite Source where he worked for 14 years and became the operations manager of the Richmond location. Here he teamed up with his eventual business partner Michael to lead Granite Source to one of the top fabrication shops in the Richmond area. In 2023 he partnered with Michael and they have been rolling ang growing ever since. Tripp has 2 boys and if he isn't at the shop it is guaranteed he is either on a baseball or football field with his boys, hunting, fishing or at a concert.
